NINE MOUNTAIN is at 9 Mountain Street, Plainfield, Massachusetts, USA 01070. Google Maps and Mapquest are generally good at finding us. Cell coverage is still spotty in our hilly terrain, but please call us if you are lost or confused at 413-634-0321.
Just over an hour from Hartford, 2 hours from Boston and 3 hours from NYC, Nine Mountain is a great destination easy to reach. Here is an interactive Google map to Nine Mountain.

From Boston
By car, Mass. Turnpike (I-90) to Hwy. 91 north, Northampton exit 19, Route 9 west. Then follow directions from Northampton listed below. (2 1/2 hrs) (Note that from the NW suburbs of Boston Route 2 may be quicker and prettier.) By bus, Peter Pan Lines (413/781-2900) to Northampton (3hrs).
From New York City
By car, Take the beautiful Taconic Pkwy. north to Rte. 295, Rte. 41, Rte. 20 to Pittsfield, to Rte. 9 east. Then follow directions from Pittsfield listed below. (Note that from Brooklyn and the Bronx Route 95 might be quicker depending upon traffic patterns.) By bus, Bonanza Bus Line (800/556-3815) from Port Authority Terminal to Pittsfield (4 hrs).
From Hartford
By car, Hwy. 91 north, Northampton exit 19, Route 9 west. Then follow directions from Northampton listed below (1 1/2 hrs).
From Northampton
By car, follow Route 9 west from Northampton for 22 miles through the towns of Florence, Williamsburg, Goshen, and Cummington. In Cummington ignore the sign for Plainfield, stay on Route 9, and look for the Old Creamery on the left, a white building with a cow on the roof. Go west exactly 3.3 miles and take a right onto Packard St. Follow this dirt road for 1 mile (it will turn to pavement again) and take a left onto Mountain Street. Our driveways are the first two on your left. (1/2 hour)
From Greenfield
By car, follow Route 2 west past Shelburne Falls and take Route 112 south. Follow Route 112 south through Buckland and Ashfield and turn right on Route 116 North. Follow 116 into Plainfield. You will pass Plainfield "center" the Town Hall & Church on right. Keep following 116 down the hill for a mile, and at the bottom of the hill turn left onto Prospect Street. Follow Prospect St. for exactly 2.2 miles and, at the bottom of another hill, turn right onto Mountain Street. Our driveways are the first two on your left. (1/2 hour)
From Pittsfield
By car, follow Route 9 east through the towns of Dalton, Windsor, and West Cummington. After Windsor center you will descend a long hill into the Pioneer Valley and cross a bridge over the Westfield River. Stay on Route 9 for less than a mile, passing a cemetery on the right. Turn left just after a pea-green house into Packard Road. Turn there. Follow Packard-Prospect Street for one mile. Take a left onto Mountain Street. Our driveways are the first two on your left. (1/2 hour)
By air
Major airlines fly to Bradley International Airport, the closest airport, serving Hartford and Springfield, and also to the Albany, N.Y. Airport. Connections from Bradley are shown below.
Connections from the Albany Airport to Pittsfield can be made through Peter Pan Bus lines - 800-237-8747.
Taxi and Shuttle Info
For taxi or shuttle service please look on line for the various companies. Search "Taxi Shuttle Northampton MA". They average $140 each way from/to Bradley Airport to Nine Mountain or $70 each way from/to Northampton.

- Some local taxi companies use unmarked sedans. When making your reservations ask them to display company placards when picking you up.
- We encourage on-line searches for ridesharing. As one example, www.RideBuzz.com is becoming popular in our region.
- You can also call us and we will try to arrange rides with friends or other workshop participants.
We also suggest trying Valley Transporter Shuttle service at 1-800-872-8752. Peter Pan Bus at 1-800-237-8747 offers frequent bus service from New York cities and Boston to Northampton. Amtrak Rail 800-872-7245 now has trains from N.Y.C. to Springfield Mass, and the rail lines will be extended in 2011-2012. Bonanza Bus 888-751-8800 has buses from points south, west & north to Pittsfield Mass. Rainbow Taxi & Vans 413-499-4300 offers service from Pittsfield or Albany, including the Albany Airport to Nine Mountain.
Caution. Packard-Prospect St is a dirt road that can become slick in mud and snow. If you have worn tires or mistrust your driving skills in bad conditions, please call ahead for advice (413-634-0321) or take an alternate route. (From Route 9 follow the Plainfield signs in Cummington to Route 116, turn left, and then left again into Prospect St. Go 2.2 miles from 116 and turn right into Mountain Street. Keep up your momentum and turn left at the SECOND driveway and into the parking lot on the right. Phew!)
